Same Date-Same Time
My name is Nelson Chandler, I grew up hunting in Northwest Georgia rural area. I started deer hunting in 1974 at age ten. Most of what I learned is from trial and error I hunted my family farm, approx 80 acres of mountains and fields. I also hunted permission farms, some of which I have hunted many years. What I have found by hunting the same farms and small permission properties during the rut, mid November to end of December in my area, is dates and times to hunt. When I harvest a buck I always record the date and time and the deer seen during the hunt. Even when I don’t harvest I record all I saw that particular day. Most of the time, year after year, bucks will be searching for does on the same date and times year to year. I have several stands prepped that I only hunt certain days and times and I do not hunt them until that time is right. I pay no attention to the weather as long as it’s the same date for the bucks to be there. I have permission and public land that I hunt at different times during the season. A little advice that will work on all properties is to record, document and repeat the next year for success.
